Po tym, jak Fakhar Zaman został usunięty z centralnej listy kontraktów Pakistanu za faworyzowanie Babara Azama, podobno przeprosił PCB
Fakhar Zaman has reportedly apologised to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over his public remarks on Babar Azam being dropped from the Test team. The batter was snubbed from the central contracts list that was announced for 25 Pakistan cricketers after much delay. Zaman had been served a show-cause notice by the PCB and it had remained unsolved until Sunday, as confirmed by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Fakhar Zaman apologises to PCB
As per News18, Fakhar Zaman felt “remorseful” about his tweet and apologised to the PCB in his show-cause notice. The report added that the board was willing to let Fakhar off the hook after holding discussions with Mohsin Naqvi and white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan. He is all set to be awarded a central contract if he is included in the series against South Africa in December.
Earlier, reports claimed that Fakhar Zaman was mulling retirement after he was low on morale due to the handling of the situation by the selectors.
Latest news
Fakhar Zaman being snubbed from Pakistan’s central contracts list drew flak from former cricketers. One even went on to suggest that the team had dropped their biggest “impact player”. The incident was triggered due to Fakhar Zaman’s tweet over reports of Babar Azam being dropped for PAK vs ENG 2nd Test. He had said that dropping the former Pakistan skipper would set a bad precedent, while drawing a parallel to Virat Kohli & the BCCI to point out how the board supported the star doing their lean patches.
PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi had said that Fakhar Zaman’s exclusion from the central contracts list was because of his fitness primarily and his tweet secondarily. He claimed that there were twin issues with Fakhar Zaman’s fitness tests, with reports claiming that the batter failed to clear a test recently. Naqvi also stated categorically that any public criticism towards the board and the selection committee would be dealt with strongly.
