Sri Lanka odwróciła sytuację w klasyfikacji Mistrzostw Świata w Piłce Nożnej Testowej (WTC), znajdując się w pierwszej trójce drużyn w tabeli punktowej.

The Sri Lankan cricket team has secured a top-three spot in the World Test Championship standings with a remarkable performance in the 1st Test of the Sri Lanka vs New Zealand series. They climbed to third place in the points table after defeating the Kiwis by 63 runs on September 23.

The Lankans have dethroned New Zealand from their spot, positioning themselves as new contenders for the WTC final, which will be held in June 2025. The Kiwis were set a target of 275 runs at the Galle International Stadium, but they succumbed to the excellent bowling of Prabath Jayasuriya, who claimed a five-wicket haul in the second innings.

Although Sri Lanka has risen to third place, India and Australia maintain a firm grip on the top two spots of the WTC points table 2024. The likelihood of an India vs. Australia final in the WTC is high. However, with many matches still to be played before the WTC title clash, every team remains focused on red-ball cricket, promising plenty of excitement and thrills in the days to come.
