Tejasvi jest cztery lata starszy od Yashasviego i w przeciwieństwie do swojego młodszego brata, który gra w Bombaju, reprezentuje Tripurę w krajowym krykiecie.
Cricket runs in the blood of the Jaiswal family. Their younger brother, Yashasvi, has already made a name for himself. At just 22, he’s one of the best players in the Indian cricket team and was recently retained by his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals for a whopping Rs 18 crore. He’s taken big strides, and now his older brother, Tejasvi Jaiswal, is walking in his footsteps. It’s not common for an older sibling to follow the younger one’s path, but that’s exactly what’s happened with the Jaiswal brothers.
Tejasvi bit different from brother Yashasvi
Much like his younger brother, Tejasvi is also a left-handed batter. However, he seems slightly shorter in height and doesn’t open the batting either. He instead prefers to bat in the middle order, at number four. Just like Yashasvi, he’s a handy part-timer, and although he too bowls with his right arm, his poison is right-arm medium, unlike his younger brother’s leg-spin.
Tejasvi Jaiswal’s Ranji Trophy debut & maiden fifty
Four years older, it was just last month that Tejasvi made his Ranji Trophy debut. Representing Tripura, he faced Meghalaya in his maiden match and got to double digits (13) but couldn’t get a big one. Then came the big test; he went against the reigning champions, Mumbai, and although he couldn’t perform (4), luckily, his team managed to secure a draw.
Then finally, in his third match against Baroda, he hit his maiden half-century in just 60 balls. Tejasvi had the golden chance to covert his maiden fifty into a hundred but unfortunately fell to Shivalik Sharma’s part-time leg-spin when he was batting at 82. Irrespective, a great result for Tejasvi and the whole Jaiswal family.
Although at 27, Tejasvi’s dream of representing Team India looks far away, but one should never stop dreaming.
