Former Indian cricketer Kirti Azad has thrown his hat into the ring to replace Rohan Jaitley as the next Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) president. The cricketer-turned-politician will file his nomination for the election on November 19. Earlier, reports did rounds that Rohan Jaitley emerged as the frontrunner to replace Jay Shah as BCCI secretary after the latter moves to ICC in December.
Kirti Azad to fine nomination for DDCA president election
The DDCA elections will be held between December 13-15 and the results will be announced on December 16. The election will be held for all members of the apex council including five office-bearers and seven directors. Jaitley emerged victorious in the last election 1658 votes.
“I plan to start nine academies in nine different places. Like, take the ground, and have a contract saying that we’ll maintain the ground. Plus, we’ll pay your groundsman, and give us your ground. It’s because now you have so many private academies,” Kirti Azad told IANS, outlining his vision as DDCA president.

Who is Rohan Jaitley?
Rohan Jaitley, who currently serves as the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), is the son of late politician Arun Jaitley. Under his administration, DDCA is currently organizing it’s own Delhi Premier League (DPL), Delhi’s first franchise-run T20 competition.
As per India Today, Rohan Jaitley and Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel are expected to lock horns for the post of BCCI secretary. The report claims that there will be no Special General Meeting (SGM) to discuss Jay Shah’s replacement and that Rohan Jaitley is the faourite to become Shah’s successor.
